Notre Dame Women’s Initiative

The Women’s Initiative formed in 2015 through a shared desire to honor all women who have contributed to the Notre Dame mission. In its first endeavor, the initiative honors Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C. and his leadership in implementing coeducation at Our Lady’s University. The North Entrance of the Hesburgh Library has been funded by hundreds of loyal Notre Dame family members whose lives were forever changed by Fr. Ted’s decision to open the doors of Notre Dame to its daughters. The mosaic was created using the photos of these benefactors, who so fondly remember and honor Fr. Ted.
