Mary - Kennedy

Mary Kennedy

Mary Deelwater Kennedy graduated from Saint John's University in 1963 where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education. It was there that she met her husband, Raymond, and was married in 1964.

Mary, her husband, and their three small sons moved from New York to Elkhart, Indiana in 1971. While here, in close proximity to the University of Notre Dame, the family became fans and eventually supporters of the University. The three Kennedy sons all attended Notre Dame: Ray '87, Mike '88 and Kevin '90.

Mary now lives in Indianapolis. In 2006, she was asked to become a member of the Hesburgh Libraries Advisory Council, a position her husband Ray had held before his death. Mary has been involved in many community activities including Catholic Charities of Indiana, the Oaks Academy, and Mu Alpha Latreian. She is also the president of the Mary A. and Raymond F. Kennedy Family Foundation. Mary is the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren, three of whom are Notre Dame students.
